Cover for In Nelsons FootstephIn this three part series, one of Britain's leading Nelson scholars, Colin White, follows the footsteps of Lord Horatio Nelson in his native Britain to explore the influences which shaped his character and formed his genius.

Part One visits Norfolk, the birthplace of Nelson. This program tells of how the young Nelson would visit the local seaports and hear exciting reports of his uncle's sea adventures and how he would later join his uncle at the age of 12 on the battleship HMS Raisonable.

Part Two follows Nelson's naval career aboard HMS Victory, that went from strength to strength with each extraordinary victory that he won. The program goes on to explore the problems that plagued his private life and his first marriage and tells of how he would meet the great love of his life, Emma Hamilton.

Part Three presents a rare glimpse at the Admiralty Boardroom in London where the plans for the Battle of Trafalgar were made. Colin White makes an on-board tour of HMS Victory and describes the last few hours of Nelson's life on the ship before he was fatally wounded.

Informative and entertaining, this is one of the most comprehensive accounts of the life and times of Britain's greatest naval hero.
